Setting Yourself Up For Failure
We look to other’s journeys to determine our own path and the pace at which we will walk. We set default coordinates and expect a different destination. How will we ever reach success if we continue to set ourselves up for failure?
Whose Permission Are You Waiting For?
In a world where so much is demanded of us, whose permission do we seek when we have reached a breaking point?
Procrastinate Quitting
Why do we climb mountains? Why do we test the limits of bodies trying to conquer these giants? We learn about ourselves and our internal journey when we step outside of our comfort zone.
Wear the Damn Shorts
Challenge your beliefs. Ask yourself, “why” at least five times until you get to the core of that old belief and ponder whether it has a place in the life and future you are trying to create. Celebrate your body as it is now for what it can do now. Don’t wait to explore or pursue something until you have the right gear or a specific brand of clothes. Don’t wait until your body looks a certain way, just wear the damn shorts.
This is Enough
When will it be enough? Will we ever feel enough with what we have now? Our society is based on numbers, the number of likes, number of followers, subscribers, ratings and so on. Our self-worth is now inevitably intertwined with these numbers.
He Loved Her & He Left
The burden of hate and resentment is the heaviest weight you will ever carry. Forgiving can feel like you are letting someone off the hook for the wrongs they’ve committed. However, forgiving is by default forgiving yourself and allowing yourself to be free.
Letting the Too-Good Mother Die
What does it mean to let the too-good mother die? We develop co-dependent relationships that keep us in comfort zones disguised in love without realizing how toxic they can become.
Eating Chapulines
When everything goes wrong on a trip, it can quickly cascade into disaster after disaster. Letting go of an itinerary and the way things are “supposed to go” by adopting a spontaneous attitude are easier said than done. However, once we are able to let go, we can find beauty in the uncommon places.
The Road Before the Road
First time solo travels are often journeys that can lead to great self-understanding. For me, aside from being an important lesson, it became a pivotal experience as I prepared for my pilgrimage throughout Northern Spain. Getting lost is the best path to finding yourself and practicing gratitude.
